Scope and Coverage
During the 4-week tenure, the fellow will:
- Observe and assist in outpatient clinics focused on paediatric orthopaedic cases including
congenital, developmental, infectious, traumatic, and neuromuscular conditions.
- Participate in surgical procedures ranging from basic to complex paediatric orthopaedic
interventions.
- Attend ward rounds and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Be exposed to rehabilitation protocols, growth and development monitoring, and long-term
management strategies.
- Engage in academic activities such as case presentations, journal clubs, and teaching
sessions.
Aims of the Fellowship
- To provide focused exposure and clinical orientation in Paediatric Orthopaedics.
- To enhance the fellow’s understanding of musculoskeletal disorders in children, including
diagnosis, management, and follow-up.
- To offer hands-on learning in both outpatient and operative settings under expert guidance.
- To encourage academic interaction and clinical research aptitude among budding
orthopaedic surgeons.
Expectations from the Fellow
- Active participation in clinical and academic activities.
- Professional conduct, punctuality, and willingness to learn.
- Preparation of a brief clinical audit or case presentation towards the end of the
fellowship.
- Attendance and involvement in discussions during daily and weekly academic sessions.
Value Addition
This fellowship will include participation in the Bombay Orthopaedic
Society Basic Paediatric
Orthopaedic Course from 8th November to 14th November 2025, providing an excellent
opportunity to consolidate clinical learning with academic enrichment, interact with different
faculty, and gain broader insights into evidence-based paediatric orthopaedic practices.
